How to Center Text on a Page in Google Docs?
From here, we will see a complete step-by-step guide to learning how to center text on a page in Google Docs. We have two methods for this, but one method is not stable and may not be working in different versions of Google Docs, so I am omitting it, and I am only going to teach the one that will work for everyone regardless of version, margins, and page sizes. So, let’s get started with this workaround.
Center Text on a Page in Google Docs – With the Help of a Table
Ok, so now you know we are going to take the help of a table, but still, there are many things to consider when you are trying to center text on a page in Google Docs.
If you are trying with custom margins, line, spacing, paragraph spacing, or even with the help of custom spacing, stop here. I have tried it for an hour, and this is not the right way to do it. Instead, follow this easy method and you will do it in a few minutes.
Step 1
Open the Google Docs file in which you want to center your text on a page.
Step 2
The file is empty, Go to Insert > Table > insert a 1×1 table
Step 3
Dont worry, I will tell you why we are doing this, now increase your table height, and keep it exactly equal to your page size manually, if it’s going to the next page then decrease the height slightly and keep it equal to the page.
Tip: If you are having a problem with the above step 3, click on the Table properties (select the table and click on the Table properties button in the above toolbar), in the Row minimum height dropdown write the value for row height equal to 24.09 in cm. It will keep your table size exactly equal to the page size (other than margins, and header footer)
Step 4
Now inside the table write you text which you want to keep in the center of the page.
Step 5
Now right-click anywhere inside the table and click on “Table properties”
Step 6
Now you have a sidebar for it, in the Column dropdown, check on the column width and pass the value 20.955 in cm (it will set your column width exactly equal to the page width)
Step 7
Now click on the Alignment drop-down, Click on the drop-down Cell vertical alignment, and select Middle, it will keep the text inside the table in the middle of the table
Step 8
In the below Table Alignment dropdown, select Center, it will keep the table at the center of the page
Step 9
Now click on the last Color dropdown, from the Table Border color box select the white color (if you have the default page color), or you can click on the adjacent drop-down where you can set the border width, here choose the option 0pt which will disappear the border of the table.
Step 10
Now back to your document and you can see the text is on the center of the page vertically, but not horizontally.
Step 11
Select the entire text and go to Toolbar, click on the Align button, and select Center.
Step 12
Now your text is centered vertically and horizontally. you can see it better in the print preview.
Even if you change its size and add some formatting, it will remain in its centered position.
So, this was how to center text on a page in Google Docs. I hope you liked it and you have got a clear understanding of the trick we used to do it very accurately.
