How to Make a Coupon on Google Docs?
So here we have two possible ways to make a coupon in Google Docs. The first is directly on the document using tables, and the second way is to use the Drawing tool. Of course, the drawing method is very new and advanced so we should use it for making good-looking coupons, but if you have a very simple design, you can use the direct method as well using tables and some other elements. We have another way but it is an external way so I will disclose it last. Let’s start with the simple method first.
Make a Coupon on Google Docs – Using Table
In this first section, we will learn how to make a beautiful coupon on Google Docs, without using any external images, even without having an internet connection. Wow, we can simply create a good-looking and printable coupon using Google Docs’ tables, and then some basic design skills to kill it in just 5 minutes. So, let’s get started with the steps required to make a coupon on Google Docs using tables.
Open the Google Docs file and take a blank page
Go to Insert > Table > select a 2×1 table
Now resize it increase the height equal to a coupon size and adjust the width accordingly.
Now on the right side part, we have a small segment where you can write smaller details about the coupon.
The left side of the coupon card is for the main highlight of the discount available and any other discount-related information
Keep the font sizes different for different elements, it will make a good feel for a customer, and keep the discount value. i.e., 50% with a bigger font size such as 50 or 55 depending on your overall size
Now right-click on the table and go to Table Properties
Select the color drop-down from the sidebar, and then change the settings for the border width and the cell background color. Make sure that you use contrasting colors for the text and background.
Now come back to your coupon design, and it’s almost ready, now you can add a final detail, and select the (only) border that is between the two parts of the coupon card, by clicking on it.
Now go to Border dash in the toolbar and change the straight line with the dotted line, and it will look like a real clippable part.
So here you can see, your final result is here.
But wait. The work is not done yet. how will you print this coupon? This table method is very easy and simple and works even without the internet, but this design is not stable. You cannot change its size or move it over the page. So, when it comes to printing which is a requirement in most cases, this method fails.
For the solution, we have another method that can help us create a stable design using the Drawing tool inside Google Docs.
Make a Coupon on Google Docs – Using Drawing Tool
In this section, we will learn how to make a coupon on Google Docs using the Drawing tool. We will see how we can use the drawing tool to create a fully-fledged coupon card and then add it directly to your document. It will be a detailed guide so don’t miss any steps. Let’s see the below steps.
Open a new or existing Google Doc.
Click on the “Insert” menu at the top of the page
Select “Drawing” from the drop-down menu > New
A new drawing window will open. In the drawing window, click on the “Shapes” button in the toolbar and then select a rectangle shape
Draw a rectangle on the canvas to create the coupon.
Now it’s up to you, if you want to make 1,2, or 3 sections on your coupon card you can make them by adding more rectangles.
To add text, click on the “Text box” button in the toolbar, and add text to the coupon, such as the name of your business, the offer, and the expiration date.
Note: Use a big font size for writing the discount percentage such as 50% OFF, to grab customer attention.
Use the formatting tools in the toolbar to customize the font, color, and size of the text.
Now contrasting to your text, give background colors to all the segments of your coupon card
Don’t forget to use the dashed border type instead of plain.
Once you are finished, click the “Save and Close” button.
The coupon will now appear in your Google Doc as an image. You can resize and move it to your desired location.
